Academic and construction expert Dr. Engineer Zaher Kahil warned that the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam will destroy gaza´s beaches in the next five years.
"We must be partners in fighting what Ethiopia is doing, if the Nile goes, Egypt is dried up, forever and we will lose the shore of the Sea of Palestine, especially Gaza," he said.
Khail, the first president of the University of Palestine, added: Scientifically the nile waters are pushing the southeastern currents of the Mediterranean Sea, and pay 450,000 cubic meters of sand annually (from engineering calculations made by myself and available to those who want) originally from the high dam, and settle on the shores of Palestine to compensate for the drift of sand to Lebanon.
He also warned that the dam also affects the ecological balance and fisheries and increases pollution in the Mediterranean.
He concluded his statement: Therefore, we, as Palestinians, are interested in undermining an Arab nationalist and a Palestinian perspective and affirming Egypt´s right to its capabilities, and we are surprised by the position of the President of Ethiopia towards Sudan and Egypt.
