Al-Farra: The Europeans affirmed that they will continue to pressure the occupation not to put obstacles in the way of holding the elections

Palestine’s ambassador to the European Union, Abd al-Rahim al-Farra, said that European officials renewed their categorical rejection of the measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities and placing obstacles in the way of holding general elections, during the meetings held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Riyadh Al-Maliki is with them for the past two days in Brussels.

Al-Farra added, in an interview with Voice of Palestine Radio, this morning, Wednesday, that the High Commissioner for Policy and Security in the European Union, Joseph Borrell, confirmed that he would contact the occupation government again and ask it to remove all obstacles to holding elections.

He pointed out that the Luxembourg Foreign Minister announced that the issue of obstructing the elections will be placed on the agenda of the next meeting of foreign ministers of the European Union, which will be held on May 10.

Al-Farra expressed his hope that at the Security Council session tomorrow, Thursday, a joint statement would be issued by the member states, carrying a real, strong and clear message, calling on Israel not to put any obstacles in the way of holding the Palestinian elections.
