The value of damages and losses incurred by the agricultural sector in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the continuation of the aggression for the eleventh day in a row, has risen to a value of ($ 27 million).
This preliminary statistic comes within the (updated) report, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture on a daily basis, on the damage and losses inflicted on the agricultural sector as a result of aggression.
The Ministry of Agriculture continues to receive the reports of those affected, through its five directorates in the governorates of the Gaza Strip.
She indicated that the damage in the plant and animal production sectors doubles on a daily basis as a result of the continued aggression, as cattle breeders destroyed more than 30 thousand liters of milk, due to the inability to market these quantities or use them in manufacturing transactions.
The occupation also targeted, with direct and deliberate shelling, one of the local feed factories and a store for fodder, which led to the complete destruction of the factory and store.
The Ministry expected that the damage and losses in the agricultural sector would double, as a result of the continued bombing of hundreds of dunams and tens of agricultural facilities, as well as targeting stores and warehouses for agricultural production inputs and supplies directly.
It indicated that its technical and administrative teams in the five agricultural directorates in the Gaza Strip are still receiving the requests of the insistent and following up the initial damage counting by communicating with the local committees and the pioneer farmers, for inventory and evaluation until the aggression ceases to inspect the damage on the ground.
The damage was represented by direct damage to lands cultivated with vegetables and fruits, and total and partial destruction of agricultural facilities and agricultural infrastructure (transmission lines and irrigation networks in addition to agricultural wells, water reservoirs and nurseries).
In addition to the damage caused to wheat fields, poultry farms and cattle farms, and the inability of farmers to access to practice their agricultural operations and market their products, noting that many farmers who were forced to reach their lands were targeted inside their lands.
The Ministry warns of a real disaster in the animal production sector due to the continued closure of the crossings, noting that the feed for poultry, sheep and cows is no longer absolutely sufficient to feed the animals, as well as the death of large quantities of poultry as a result of direct bombing of farms or the inability of their owners to reach them.
With regard to the fishing sector, the Ministry noted that the indirect losses are much greater than the direct losses represented in interruption of work at sea.
In addition to that, the daily losses of more than half a million dollars of vegetable products and fish that were not exported on a daily basis as a result of the closure of the crossings.
