Gunmen from the Taliban´s Red Unit have clashed with others from the Islamic State (IS) in the eastern province of Nangarhar, killing nine people, local authorities said Sunday. ISIS and two Taliban, according to the Afghan news agency Khama Press.
The Taliban´s office in Nangarhar said in a statement that the Taliban clashed with ISIS operatives in Khojiani district of the province last night.
The statement added that Taliban militants killed nine militants from the movement "Khursan" of ISIS, during the clash that lasted 5 hours.
In addition, ISIS militants killed two militants from the Taliban´s Red Unit and wounded two others.
Neither the Taliban nor ISIS have commented on the latest fighting so far.
