The Council of Endowments, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sanctuaries in Jerusalem called for an immediate halt to suspicious excavations from the southern and western sides adjacent to the external foundation of Al-Aqsa Mosque, warning against continuing to tamper, sabotage and change the historical and religious landmarks of these historical endowment sites.
The council said in a statement today, Thursday, that the Israeli Antiquities Authority and the "Elad" settlement association have been carrying out excavations and "suspicious and mysterious" works for some time in the vicinity of the blessed Al- Aqsa Mosque.
He added that he has been monitoring for some time, a group of workers, using bulldozers and large excavating machines, working with a suspicious wheel in the square of the Al-Buraq Wall and in the area of the Umayyad palaces in the area adjacent to the lower foundations of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
And he indicated that the mechanisms empty the dust and make holes in the walls adjacent to the southern wall of the mosque and empty the corridors in an attempt to hide the excavations they are doing.
He said, "Observers have monitored continuous crushing for months of important archaeological stones, which are turned into small stones in order to hide their traces and take them out as mounds that go to the rubbish, by excavation workers affiliated with settlement associations."
The Council affirmed that the square and wall of Al-Buraq and the Umayyad palaces area is a true Islamic endowment and is an extension of the mosque to Al-Aqsa Mosque as an Islamic mosque with a full area of 144 acres with all its chapels, courtyards, terraces, walls and roads leading to it, and it is the exclusive property of Muslims alone, and this will remain until God inherits the earth and those on it. .
The Council stressed the need to abide by international resolutions and resolutions issued by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), especially the resolution adopted by UNESCO on October 18, 2016, which proves that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is the entire Al-Haram Al-Sharif and that it is a place of worship purely for Muslims alone.
The Council made an urgent appeal to the guardian and caretaker of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, King Abdullah II of Jordan, to intervene directly to stop this dangerous situation that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque is going through, and to take the necessary measures to pressure the occupation government not to prejudice the right of Muslims to their holy mosque and its surroundings.
