´The Bad Guys´ maintains top spot at the box office

The animated movie "The Bad Guys" maintained its lead at the North American box office last weekend, taking in $16.1 million in revenue, according to specialist Expater Relations.

Similar to "Ocean´s 11" but with an animal-centric storyline, the action benefited from a relatively quiet weekend ahead of the release of Disney´s upcoming superhero movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse Madness" next Friday.

Produced by DreamWorks Animation, "The Bad Guys" has a cast that has voiced the characters, including Sam Rockwell, Akwafina, Anthony Ramos and Lily Singh.

Paramount film "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" took second place again, with revenues of $11.4 million. His total revenue within four weeks amounted to 160.9 million dollars, thus exceeding the total revenues of the first "Sonic" movie, which amounted to 148 million dollars, in a rare achievement for a movie during the pandemic period.

The movie "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" held the third place, taking in $8.3 million. This is the lowest-grossing movie of the "Harry Potter" series.

In fourth place was the movie "The Northman", inspired by the atmosphere of the Vikings and produced by "Focus Features", with revenues of 6.3 million dollars.
In fifth place, "Everything Everywhere" is up one place from last week, with revenues of $5.5 million.
"April was another good month at the domestic box office," said David Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research, noting that the past two months had shown a "tremendous improvement" compared to the modest numbers achieved at the box office last summer due to the pandemic.

The following is the rest of the works in the ranking of the top ten films at the box office in North American theaters:
6- "The Unbearable Wet of Massive Talent" ($3.9 million).
7. "The Lost City" ($3.9 million).
8- "Memory" ($3.1 million).
9- "Fother Stowe" ($2.2 million).
10- "Morbius" ($1.5 million).
