The Russian Defense Ministry announced that a Russian military helicopter was shot down Monday over Armenia, not far from the border with Azerbaijan, killing two of its crew members.

The ministry said in a statement that "the Mi-24 helicopter came under ground fire from a mobile air defense system." The plane was hit as it escorted a convoy of vehicles from a Russian military base in Armenia, close to the border with Azerbaijan.
