50 former Israeli officials have submitted written statements to the Israeli Supreme Court, in a petition calling for an investigation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the case of the purchase of German submarines.
The "submarine deal" or Case 3000 relates to the investigation of alleged commissions in a deal to buy 6 submarines from the German company Thyssenkrupp, as well as approval for Germany to sell two "Dolphin" type submarines and two anti-submarine ships to Egypt.
In December 2019, the Israeli Public Prosecutor´s Office filed an indictment against close to Netanyahu in the same case, but Netanyahu himself was not included in the list of suspects.
Last August, the Movement for the Quality of Governance in Israel (non-governmental) submitted a petition to the Supreme Court, demanding that the submarine case be re-investigated and expanded to include Netanyahu.
The Hebrew newspaper "Yediot Aharonot" said today, Sunday, that 50 former military officials, including chiefs of staff, the commander of the Navy, and senior generals revealed a particularly disturbing picture in the decision-making process, including an indication that the Israeli army did not need to Submarines at all.
