Abdel Nasser Farwana, a specialist in the affairs of prisoners and ex-prisoners, said today, Sunday, that the occupation authorities have issued 778 administrative detention orders since the beginning of this year.
Farwaneh indicated that 350 of those decisions constitute 45% of the total administrative decisions, while the remaining 428 make up 55% of the decisions to renew administrative detention.
Farwaneh said that administrative detention has become an essential part of the Israeli policy in dealing with the Palestinians, and has become a means of collective punishment, and the occupation authorities resort to it to justify their detention of citizens, without charge or trial.
He added, "The Israeli behavior constitutes a crime, which calls for action at all levels to limit it and reduce administrative detention decisions on the way to closing this file completely and permanently."
