50% of Americans support linking military aid to Israel not to use it against the Palestinians

A public opinion poll in the United States showed that 50% of Americans believe that military aid to Israel should be restricted, and linked to not being used against the Palestinians.

A new 2021 Chicago Council poll shows that 50% of respondents want the United States to restrict military aid to Israel, and a majority of Democrats want that restriction.

The poll showed that there is still a significant partisan divide on the issue, with 62% of Democrats believing that the US administration should ban Israel´s use of its military aid in military operations against the Palestinians.

This poll is in line with other recent studies showing that domestic support for Israel has begun to wane. A Gallup poll found that a majority of Democrats believe the United States should put pressure on Israel, not Palestine.

A July poll by the Institute for Jewish Elections also showed that a quarter of American Jews believe Israel is an apartheid state, and 34% think Israel´s treatment of Palestinians resembles racism against blacks in the United States.
