49 violations of journalists´ rights since the beginning of the year 2020

The Committee to Support Journalists has monitored 49 violations of journalists by the occupation authorities and the result of Palestinian internal violations.

In a statement, the committee said that the Israeli occupation forces have stepped up campaigns of arrest, summons, and deportation of journalists, especially Jerusalemites, since the beginning of 2020.

In her January 2020 report, she added that journalists are paying the price for documenting the crimes of the occupation against the Palestinian people, the most recent of which was the issuance of a new medical report in a hospital in Jordan showing the loss of photojournalist Attia Darwish, his left eye completely due to his targeting by the occupation in late 2018 during his coverage of return marches in the Gaza Strip.

The Committee affirmed that the occupation committed more than (38) violations against journalists and media workers, and a case (1) of blocking a page was recorded by the Facebook administration, along with 10 internal Palestinian violations.

The committee indicated that the occupation arrested (5) journalists: Adel Abu Nimah, Abdel Karim Darwish, Yazan Abu Salah, Amjad Arafah and Thaer Al-Sharif, while the administrative detention decision number (1) was issued for a period of 4 months against the writer Ahmed Qatamish, apart from the detention of forces The occupation of journalists while practicing their professional work in the Jordan Valley, while issuing a decision to remove journalists from the city of Jerusalem against journalists.

The occupation forces assaulted 6 journalists by beating, kicking, and pushing during their coverage of peaceful marches in the occupied Palestinian territories, and prevented 11 journalists from practicing their work in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.

The monthly report recorded (5) cases of raiding and storming the homes of journalists before conducting raids, searches, and arrests, while the report documented (4) accusations and threats against a number of journalists, and forcing two to pay a fine before their release.

In the context of fighting Palestinian content, the January 2020 report recorded a (1) page blocking of the Ghassan Kanafani Al-Qaza page, which was created ten years ago.
