440 Israeli extremists stormed the al-Aqsa mosque compound on the Bab al-Mughrabi side, under tight security.
"The door of the Moroccans was shut down after the storming of 440 extremists from Bab al-Mughrabi, amid heightened security by the Israeli occupation police during the morning period," said Waqf information Officer Firas al-Debs.
Israeli right-wing groups have called for an intensification of the incursions into the Al-Aqsa mosque during the Jewish Throne Day, which began on Monday, and lasts for one week.
Since 2003, Israeli police have allowed settlers to enter the Al-Aqsa mosque without the approval of the Islamic Waqf department, which belongs to the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and is responsible for managing the affairs of the mosque.
The Waqf has repeatedly called on the Israeli authorities over the past years to stop the incursions without any response.
