Four prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons continue their open hunger strike today, Monday, in protest against their detention, including three administrative detainees.
The striking prisoners are:
Kayed al-Fasfous from Dura in Hebron (34 years old), who has been on hunger strike for 33 days. He was arrested on May 2nd of the previous year and is a former prisoner who spent nearly 7 years in Israeli prisons. He previously went on a hunger strike in May and June of the previous year for 9 days. He is married and a father of a child. He also conducted a hunger strike in 2021 against his administrative detention, which lasted for 131 days. He is currently held in the Negev Desert prisons.
Prisoner Sultan Khalouf (42 years old) from the town of Birqin has been on hunger strike for 33 days since his arrest at the beginning of last month. He has been issued an administrative detention order for four months. He is a former prisoner who spent years in Israeli prisons. In 2019, he conducted a 67-day hunger strike in protest against his administrative detention. He continues to be held in the Jalameh prison.
Administrative detainee Abdel Rahman Iyad Baragha (24 years old) from the Aqabat Jaber camp in Jericho has been on hunger strike for 26 days since his arrest on April 30th. He is held in the Raymond prison.
Maher Al-Akhras (52 years old) from the town of Silet al-Dhahr in Jenin has been on hunger strike for 13 days. He is a former prisoner who spent five years in Israeli prisons, with his last imprisonment in 2020. During that time, he launched an open hunger strike lasting 103 days in protest against his administrative detention. He is married and a father of six children. He is currently held in the Jalameh prison.
Since 2011, there have been over 440 individual hunger strikes, most of them protesting administrative detention. The number of administrative detainees in Israeli prisons has exceeded 1,200, marking the highest number in years.
