The fall of shells targeting a vegetable market east of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, on Tuesday, killed 4 civilians and wounded 6, according to Osama Ali, a spokesman for the Ambulance and Emergency Agency.
"4 civilians were killed and 6 others were wounded after random shells landed in a green market in Tajoura, east of the capital, Tripoli," Ali told AFP.
A photographer told AFP that the bombing also caused damage to cars and houses on the spot.
The forces of the National Accord government, recognized by the United Nations, accused the forces loyal to Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar of launching an air strike on Tajoura.
And the operation, "The Volcano of Rage", via Facebook, said, "The warplanes bombed the war criminal, Haftar, a well area, Asta Milad, Tajoura."
And published pictures showing the destruction of the place and the burning of a number of cars in addition to the destruction in a green market.
There was no comment from the media platforms of Hifter´s forces.
Civilians are repeatedly targeted by air strikes or indiscriminate shelling in southern and central Tripoli. Al-Wefaq government usually accuses Haftar´s forces.
The United Nations has repeatedly called for refraining from targeting civilians and vital installations in Tripoli, stressing that these attacks could amount to "war crimes".
Libya, plunged into chaos since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011, has been experiencing violent confrontations since April 4, when forces loyal to Field Marshal Haftar launched an offensive in an attempt to seize Tripoli, the seat of the National Accord government.
The fighting has killed at least 284 civilians and wounded 363 others, according to the United Nations.
