Netanyahu will not re-authorize Rivlin before the Likud Central Committee session

Interim Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, charged with forming a new government, will not reassign Israeli President Reuven Rivlin before the party´s central committee meets, a Likud source said on Sunday.

According to the source, the Central Committee will meet next Thursday to confirm that Netanyahu will remain head of the party and its only candidate to form any government.

This comes after Netanyahu retreated from the idea of holding primaries within the party, where it turned out that the purpose of leaking this idea to try to know who will compete for the presidency.

Gideon Sa´ar has emerged as a rival to Netanyahu, prompting him to explain that he will compete in any future primaries and that there is no need to hold a meeting of the party´s Central Committee in order to confirm Netanyahu´s presidency.
