The Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies said today, Sunday, that the occupation has arrested 37 Palestinian prisoners in Damoun Prison, who are in harsh detention conditions, depriving them of all the basic necessities of life, and are subjected to all forms of violation, restrictions and deprivation of basic rights.
The center stated that the cases of detention among women have reached about (16 thousand) cases since 1967, and since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa Intifada in September of the year 2000, the occupation has arrested more than (2,500) women and girls.
The researcher, Riad Al-Ashqar, Director of the Center, pointed out that the occupation is targeting women continuously, so that hardly a month passes without 10 to 15 women and girls being arrested for hours or days, especially from occupied Jerusalem, and some of them were subjected to a harsh interrogation for weeks, and others were issued against them. Harsh sentences, 8 of them were sentenced to more than 10 years.
Al-Ashqar indicated that 3 female prisoners are subjected to arbitrary administrative detention, and they are the captive Shurooq al-Badan (26 years) from Bethlehem. She is a freed prisoner who was re-arrested in September / September last year, and a 6-month administrative detention order was issued against her. Al-Bireh, who is also a freed prisoner who was re-arrested in November 2020, and a 4-month administrative detention order was issued against her.
Al-Ashqar revealed that 6 female prisoners suffer from difficult health conditions due to medical negligence, foremost of whom is Israa Jaabis (35 years) from Jerusalem, and is considered one of the most difficult pathological cases among female prisoners, and needs several urgent functional surgeries, and she has been detained since October 2015, and the captive Nisreen Abu Kamil (47 years), from the Gaza Strip, suffers from constant dizziness, tremors in the limbs, and weakness in the heart muscle. She is sentenced to 6 years imprisonment.
He stated that the female prisoners are subjected to a series of repression and violation of rights, with the continuation of the policy of storming sections and rooms with the aim of inspecting and embarrassing them, with incorrect security allegations, and violating their privacy by installing surveillance cameras in the al-Furah yard and corridors, and traveling in the bosta car at frequent and frequent intervals to impose more abuse against them. .
