28 newborn babies were transferred to Egyptian hospitals via the Rafah crossing

This morning (Monday), a convoy set off to transport newborn babies from the Gaza Strip to transport them to hospitals in Egypt, after their evacuation from the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement, a copy of which was received by Xinhua News Agency, that its ambulance crews set off in front of the Emirati Hospital in the city of Rafah to transport 28 newborn babies to the Rafah crossing, in preparation for transporting them to receive treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

The association stated that the step is being carried out in coordination between the World Health Organization and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The World Health Organization and international institutions worked to remove premature babies from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City after it was evacuated yesterday (Sunday).

Meanwhile, Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh renewed his demand to stop “aggression, massacres, mass killing and genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

During the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting in the city of Ramallah, Shtayyeh denounced the positions of some international organizations that still reject a ceasefire, "which encourages Israel to commit more killings, and shows the absence of international humanitarian law and disregard for all international treaties despite the horror of what is happening in Gaza."

Shtayyeh expressed his hope that the Arab Summit decisions related to Palestine, especially the part related to the Arab financial safety network, would be activated and implemented, noting that most of the aid now will focus on the Gaza Strip for the purposes of relief, shelter, water, and medicine.
