$ 2 million loss of recent Israeli aggression against Gaza

Naji Sarhan, undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Works and housing, said Thursday that the total losses of Israel´s latest aggression against the Gaza Strip between Monday evening and the dawn of last Tuesday reached to 2 million US dollars.

"The latest aggression caused a total demolition of some 30 housing units at a cost of 1.5 million, and partial damage to some 500 other units at a cost of half a million," Sarhan said at a press conference at the Ministry of Information in Gaza City.

Sarhan said the Israeli army "used excessive force and heavy shells that caused serious damage in the vicinity of the target areas."

He said the aggression caused the displacement of "hundreds of Palestinians from their homes."

The Gaza government Information Office said that the Israeli army had launched more than 50 rockets on various areas of the strip, targeting different locations, including five civil headquarters, and injuring 10 people.

Sarhan said that the targeting of the headquarters of Al-Methaq insurance and investment company "(private), west of Gaza City, located in a 3-storey residential building, contracting 9 knives and other units leased to civil enterprises, resolved in the total destruction of all those units.

Some 25 housing units were partially damaged in the vicinity of the company´s headquarters, according to Sarhan.

He added: "The entire residential building of Hassouna has 19 residential units, and the shelling has partially damaged 60 housing units between moderate and severe damage, located in the vicinity of the building."

He explained that the Israeli army´s targeting of the headquarters of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political Bureau of the Hamas movement, rejected in the partial damage of some 50 housing units located in the vicinity of the headquarters.

"In addition, dozens of housing units have been damaged in the north and south of the Gaza Strip, as a result of Israeli targets targeting different locations," he said.

Some 77 housing units were completely destroyed, and another 1170 were partially damaged during Israel´s attack on the Gaza Strip in November 2018, at a cost of up to $ 5 million.

He noted that the Gaza Strip needs funding amounting to $ 140 million to reconstruct what has been destroyed by the repeated Israeli aggression against the strip and its previous wars. -
