17 prisoners continue their hunger strike in protest of administrative detention

The Prisoners’ Club said that the number of prisoners on hunger strike in the occupation prisons rose today, Sunday, to 17, 16 of whom refused the administrative detention policy.

The club explained in a statement that the prisoner Youssef Al-Amer from Jenin camp joined the strike four days ago in the cells of the “Naqab” prison.

The club indicated that so far there are no signs or serious solutions to solve their case, and it is likely that the number of prisoners on hunger strike will continue to rise.

Sixteen prisoners in the occupation prisons are continuing their hunger strike, in refusal of their administrative detention, the oldest of whom is the prisoner Salem Zaidat (40 years), from Bani Naim, northeast of Hebron, who has been on strike for 20 days.

The striking prisoners are: Muhammad Omar and Mujahid Hamid, who have been on strike for 18 days, Mahmoud al-Fasfous and his brother Kayed, Raafat al-Darawish, and Guevara al-Namoura on strike for 17 days, Maher Delaysha for 12 days, Alaa al-Din Ali, Fadi al-Amour, Hussam Abu Rabei and Muhammad Khaled Cel, Ahmed Abdel Rahman Abu Salem, and Ahmed Nazzal have been on strike for 11 days, Miqdad al-Qawasma for 10 days, and the prisoner Muhammad Nawara, the striker, in refusal to be isolated in the cells, as the “Ashkelon” prison administration transferred him to the isolation of Beersheba, in an abusive move, noting He has been detained since 2001 and is sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to the Prisoners’ Affairs Authority, the situation of strikers is becoming more difficult with the passage of days, as they suffer from joint pain, fatigue and exhaustion, and remarkable weight loss. They also suffer from psychological pressure due to movement and daily inspection campaigns in their personal belongings.

• The prisoner Salem Zaidat (40 years), from the town of Bani Naim, northeast of Hebron, has been detained since February 22, 2020, and the occupation sentenced him to four months in prison at the time. months and four months. • The prisoner Mujahid Mahmoud Hamed from the town of Silwad, east of Ramallah, has been detained since September 22, 2020, and the occupation issued two administrative detention orders against him for a period of 6 months, and he is a former prisoner who spent 9 years in the occupation’s prisons. Administratively, he is married, and at the time of his arrest his only son was a month old, knowing that he is currently in the cells of the Negev prison.
• Mahmoud al-Fasfous (30 years), from Dura in Hebron, was arrested several times previously since he was a child, spent years in the occupation prisons, and was re-arrested administratively in July 2020. He is in the cells of “Raymon” prison.
• The prisoner Kayed al-Fosfus (32 years), brother of Mahmoud, is a former prisoner who was arrested several times, the last of which was in July 2020, shortly after Mahmoud’s arrest.
• The prisoner Ra’fat Al-Darawish (28 years), from Dura, south of Hebron, is a former prisoner who was arrested several times. His current detention was in October 2020. He is married and has a son. He suffers from chest problems, and is in “Raymon” cells.

In the first detention, he was subjected to a harsh interrogation that lasted for 90 days. He is married and the father of three daughters and sons. He is in the cells of the “Negev” prison.
• The prisoner Fadi Al-Amour (31 years), from Yatta, south of Hebron, was arrested by the occupation on May 20, and transferred to administrative detention for a period of four months. He is a former prisoner who spent a total of 7 years, including 6 years continuously. He was released in 2020 after he He served his sentence, and was re-arrested in a short period of time. He is now in the cells of the “Naqab” prison. He has a prisoner brother who is administratively detained, Muhammad al-Amour.
• The prisoner Hussam Taysir Rabai from Yatta, south of Hebron, was arrested by the occupation last May, and transferred to administrative detention for a period of six months, and this is his second detention, knowing that he is married and the father of six children.
• The prisoner Muhammad Khaled Abu Sal (30 years), from Al-Aroub camp in Hebron, has been detained for ten months. The occupation issued three administrative detention orders against him, one of them for a period of 6 months, and the second order was for 6 months, which was reduced to four months, and again, an administrative detention order was issued against him for a period of time. For four months, he is now in the cells of the Negev prison.
• The prisoner Ahmed Abdel Rahman Abu Salem (26 years), from Al-Aroub camp in Hebron, has been detained for ten months. The occupation issued three administrative detention orders against him.
