At least 16 people were killed and 75 injured in a stampede during the Ashura ceremony in the holy city of Karbala, 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of Baghdad, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
"Sixteen people were martyred and 75 were injured in an infinite toll," the ministry spokesman said in a brief statement.
