JERUSALEM _ Palestine News Network

Dozens of Jewish settlers, on Tuesday morning, sheltered al-Aqsa mosque courtyards after being protected by the Israeli police.

According to the Islamic Waqf, 140 settlers broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and wandered into its courtyards, amid receiving explanations about the alleged "structure".

She explained that the settlers performed Taloudi rituals near the "Bab al Rahma " in the eastern region of al-Aqsa Mosque.

She added that the Israeli police and the heavily armed special forces had protected the settlers from the moment they stormed the "Bab al-Mughrabi" until they left the "Bab al-Series".

The alleged "temple" groups called on their settler supporters on Friday to collectively storm the Al-Aqsa Mosque in conjunction with the start of the municipal elections, and to vote for those who serve the idea of "building the temple."

The number of settlers will rise during the daytime hours because the Israeli occupation police allow settlers a second round of storming, following the completion of Zuhr prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Israeli police continued to tighten its procedures at the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, detaining some of the identities of worshippers and giving them colour cards instead, to ensure that they were not tied up in the mosque.
