$1 million Chinese grant to support Gaza´s food sector

The Chinese Embassy to the State of Palestine and the Unrwa have signed a cooperation agreement that includes a $1 million grant to support the food sector in the Gaza Strip.

At the signing ceremony held at the embassy in Ramallah on Tuesday, China´s ambassador to the State of Palestine reiterated China´s commitment to continue its support for UNRWA, noting that such support would help Palestinian refugees and alleviate their suffering.

He explained that China will continue to support this support, strengthening cooperation and relations with UNRWA in the coming years. According to the official agency

Mark Lasawi, head of the donor relations department at UNRWA, said the grant will contribute to providing food support to the largest segment of people in need in the Gaza Strip, especially in light of the current difficult situation.

"China has been supporting unrwa´s work and activities for a long time," he said, noting that over the past years the AGENCY has faced significant obstacles that have hampered the delivery of its services.
