Israel detains 5,426 Palestinians in the first half of 2021

Today, Saturday, a human rights report documented the detention of 5,426 Palestinians by the Israeli occupation forces, from the beginning of this year until the end of last June.

This came in a report issued by the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission (affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization), the Prisoner’s Club, the Addameer Foundation for Prisoner Care and Human Rights, and the Wadi Hilweh Information Center in Jerusalem (non-governmental).

The report stated that "the occupation forces arrested 5,426 Palestinians, including 854 children and 107 women, since the beginning of the year 2021, until June 30."

He pointed out that last May, the highest rate of arrests was recorded, with 3 thousand and 100 cases.

Meanwhile, occupied Jerusalem topped the West Bank cities in terms of the number of arrests, with 1,699 arrests recorded during the same period.

He stated that the arrests recorded in the first half of this year, double the cases recorded in the first half of last year.

On April 13, the situation in Palestine erupted; As a result of brutal attacks committed by the authorities and Jewish settlers in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

According to the report, the number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the prisons of the occupation as of last June 30 reached 4850, including 41 female prisoners, 225 children, and 540 administrative detainees.
