The United States last night blocked an attempt by Kuwait, Indonesia and South Africa to issue a statement from the UN Security Council condemning Israel´s demolition of Palestinian homes in Wadi Homs in the town of Sur Baher in occupied Jerusalem.
The draft statement addressed to the 15 members of the Security Council expresses grave concern and warns that the demolition "undermines the survival of the two-state solution and the prospects for a just and lasting peace."
Diplomats were quoted as saying that the United States had informed its partners in the council that it could not support the text of the statement and that a revised draft of three statements had been put forward, but the United States reiterated that it did not agree.
For its part, criticized the movement of Hamas, the United States of America banned a resolution condemning Israel in the UN Security Council.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said in a statement that "preventing Washington from issuing a Security Council resolution condemning the demolitions represents the summit of American arrogance and arrogance."
He said Qassem that "providing Washington cover for all the crimes of the occupation encourages him to continue aggression, a renewed American policy, noting that" the extreme positions of the Trump administration, made them a partner in the real aggression against the Palestinian people. "
He stressed that "American support for the policy of ethnic cleansing practiced by the occupation government, will increase the determination of the Palestinian people to hold on to land and sanctities, and continue to struggle until the occupation of the occupation of all the land of Palestine."
