Cairo - Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed the importance of preparing for the holding of the first Arab-Chinese summit to be hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2022 at a date agreed upon by the two sides, expressing their aspiration that this summit constitute a qualitative leap to advance Arab-Chinese relations. and strategic partnership.

This came in a joint statement issued by the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and the Chinese Foreign Minister after their meeting today, Sunday, in the Egyptian city of El Alamein.

The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining security, peace and stability, and the need to reach political solutions to crises and regional issues, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and relevant agreements and references, stressing the importance of a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital. Eastern.

The statement called for holding an international peace conference with greater credibility and broader representation in order to achieve a just and lasting peace in the Middle East as soon as possible on the basis of the "two-state solution."

The two sides expressed their deep satisfaction with the development of the Arab-Chinese strategic partnership relations, the level of existing cooperation between the two sides, solidarity and mutual support for issues of mutual concern to each party, and the importance of continuing to strengthen strategic relations to serve the common interests of the Arab and Chinese peoples.
