Palestine Center / 6.5% of the prisoners were infected with the Coronavirus, including two prisoners in a condition of danger

The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies confirmed that the number of prisoners who were infected with the Coronavirus in the occupation prisons has increased to 295, which constitutes 6.5% of the number of prisoners in the occupation´s 4,400 prisoners.

The center said that despite hundreds of prisoners being given the anti-corona virus vaccine, there are new infections that appear from time to time, especially in Raymond Prison and the Negev, the last of which was this Friday morning, with (4) new infections recorded among the prisoners in Sections (3) and (1) (Raymond prison.

The director of the center, researcher Riad Al-Ashqar, explained that the prison administration, since the beginning of the spread of the virus in March of last year, has dealt with apparent negligence and has not paid attention to the lives of the prisoners, but deliberately exploited the pandemic by imposing more abuse on prisoners, depriving them of visits and reducing the amount of detergents, and refused to sterilize prisons in the first months of the crisis.
