Today, Friday, the Israeli army suppressed Palestinian marches that took place in separate areas of the occupied West Bank, on the 53rd anniversary of the "setback" (the June 1967 war) .
Hundreds of Palestinians marched in the towns of Bil´in and Ni´lin (central), Kafr Qaddum, near the Jabara checkpoint in Tulkarm Governorate, and the towns of Haris and Qusin (north), in addition to the northern Jordan Valley region (northeast) and the city of Hebron (south) . Participants in the marches, which were called for by the national factions, raised the Palestinian flag, and chanted slogans condemning the Israeli occupation and its repressive practices . The Israeli army used rubber-coated metal bullets, sound bombs and tear gas to suppress and disperse the demonstrators, Anatolia correspondent quoted witnesses as saying . In a statement, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said that a Palestinian was wounded by a metal bullet in the head after the Israeli forces suppressed a march in the northern Jordan Valley . She stated that her crews transferred the injured person to hospital for treatment, without further details about his health . And Thursday, Palestinian factions called for the widest popular participation in marches condemning the occupation, and the decision to annex parts of the West Bank to Israeli sovereignty, and to commemorate the setback . On June 5 of each year, the Palestinians commemorate the 1967 war, which resulted in the occupation of Israel by the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula, and the Syrian Golan Heights, and they call it the "setback". The anniversary this year coincides with an Israeli decision to be implemented in early July, to annex the Jordan Valley and settlements in the West Bank to Israeli sovereignty .
