140 Senior Indian Journalists: Targeting Abu Akleh is a product of an environment based on impunity

140 senior Indian journalists sent a letter to the Israeli Prime Minister about targeting and killing the journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, stressing that her targeting is the result of a deliberately created environment based on impunity.

The journalists said: "We are writing to you to express our strong condemnation of the killing of Al-Jazeera journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh, who was shot in the head, which once again confirms the inability of your government to accept independent press that tells the truth, and it was targeted even though she was wearing a helmet and a protective jacket with the phrase written on it." Journalism clearly, and she was present alongside other journalists."

"We are also surprised that despite global condemnation, the police were again directed to stop her funeral procession and resorted to violence as the Palestinians tried to move forward, with videos of the brutal attack on coffin bearers who nearly dropped the coffin as well as the beating and kicking of mourners," the journalists added. They demanded the opening of a transparent investigation by an independent authority to ensure that justice is served, and to stop more targeted killing attacks.
