Wicklelex: Accusing Julian Assange in the United States

Washington _ Agencies

The Julian Assange Foundation, which published US secret documents in 2010, was indicted in the United States, the WikiLeaks website said Thursday evening.

The site said that prosecutors had inadvertently disclosed, in the context of another non-related case, the existence of that secret accusation.

The nature of the accusation against Lasang has yet to be known.

WikiLeaks wrote on Twitter  "The U.S. Department of Justice accidentally reveals/have secret charges (or a draft of those charges) against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, in a cut-and-paste error apparently in an offline case and also in the eastern region of Virginia ".

The charges against Assange, which remain secret, were revealed by the help of U.S. Attorney Kelly Dwyer when submitting documents for the offline case. She urged the judge to keep the file closed.

"Given the defendant´s complexities and the publicity surrounding the case, no other measure is likely to maintain the confidentiality of the truth of the accusation," Dwyer wrote, according to The Washington Post.

Dwyer later wrote that the charges "must remain confidential until the arrest of Assange ".

US media reported on Thursday evening the inadvertent disclosure of the accusation following a tweet from Seamus Hughes, deputy director of the program on Extremism at George Washington University. He is known to follow the Court´s cases closely.
