Washington intends to withdraw 4 thousand of its soldiers in Afghanistan

American media revealed that the United States intends to withdraw about 4 thousand soldiers from Afghanistan, next week.

The US "NBC News" channel reported that the administration of President Donald Trump intends to announce the withdrawal of about 4 thousand soldiers from Afghanistan next week, while leaving between 8 thousand and 9 thousand of its soldiers there.

She said that the announcement will come days after Washington resumed peace talks with the Taliban in the Qatari capital, Doha, despite the announcement by the US special peace envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, on Wednesday, to suspend the talks until a while, due to the bombing adopted by the "Taliban" movement near the "Bagram" base, The largest US military base, south of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

The number of American soldiers in Afghanistan is estimated at 13,000.

President Donald Trump arrived in Afghanistan about two weeks ago on an unannounced visit, where he met US military personnel there and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

Afghanistan has seen, since the US invasion in 2001, a conflict between the Taliban on the one hand, and government and international forces led by the United States on the other, which caused thousands of civilian casualties.
