US Secretary of Homeland Security: Our borders with Mexico are closed, and children are excluded

US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayoras said he is not concerned about setting a precedent for open borders and allowing thousands of unaccompanied minors to enter the country from Mexico.

"Borders are closed," Mayoras added on NBC´s "Meet the Press" program, adding that immigration authorities expel families and unmarried adults, but not children who cross the border alone.

And he continued, "We will not expel three orphans to the Mexican desert, for example," according to Bloomberg News reported on Sunday.

He said the Biden administration´s main focus was rebuilding "orderly systems" in Mexico and Central America to discourage potential immigrants from traveling to the US border.
