Two US soldiers were killed in action in Afghanistan, the Pentagon said Thursday.
The Pentagon said in a statement that the two soldiers were killed in Logar province, Afghanistan, when their helicopter crashed while providing insurance for troops on the ground.
The statement added that the two soldiers provided support for Operation "Freedom Guard" in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon said the incident was under investigation.
The United States reportedly maintains about 12,000 troops in Afghanistan, providing training to Afghan local forces while also conducting operations against terrorist groups to combat terrorism.
