Twenty-five people were killed in the Manghakhot typhoon, which hit the Philippines on Saturday and forced tens of thousands of people to leave their homes, authorities said Sunday .
"There are 25 people killed," a government official in charge of disaster management, Francis Tolentino, told AFP, while a previous tally indicated eight people were killed.
About four million people were on the devastated Cyclone road in northern Lawson, the largest island in the Philippine archipelago.
Ricardo Galad, head of the National Civil Defense office, said the death toll "will increase over time."
Filipino rescuers have been deployed in the most affected rural and mountainous areas. Wind speeds of 330 km/h in some places.

وقال ريكاردو جالاد رئيس المكتب الوطني للدÙاع المدني إن عدد القتلى "سيزداد على مر الوقت".
وانتشر رجال الانقاذ الÙيليبينيون ÙÙŠ المناطق الريÙية والجبلية الاكثر تضررا. وبلغت سرعة Ø§Ù„Ø±ÙŠØ§Ø 330 كلم ÙÙŠ الساعة ÙÙŠ بعض الأماكن.
