Donald Trump described Wednesday as "absolute shame" the decisions of social networking sites to suspend his accounts, in a statement published after the Supervisory Board announced on Facebook to maintain the ban on the former president from posting messages on his Facebook page and his Instagram account.
"What Facebook, Twitter and Google have done is an absolute shame," he wrote in a statement.
"The freedom of expression has been withdrawn from the American president because the hard-left madmen fear the truth, but the truth will appear anyway bigger and stronger than ever," he added, referring to his unfounded accusations that fraud marred the US presidential elections in November 2020.
"The American people will not stand idly by! Social media must pay a political price and they must never be allowed to destroy and eliminate our electoral process," Trump added.
Likewise, Republican lawmakers in Congress threatened to attack the tech giants if they regained the majority in Congress in the upcoming midterm parliamentary elections in November 2022.
"If Facebook can block Trump, all conservative votes could follow," wrote Kevin McCarthy, leader of the Republican minority in the House of Representatives.
"A Republican majority in the House of Representatives will limit the power of the tech giants over our word," he added.
Rep. Jim Jordan tweeted, "Smash them," referring to the monopoly issue.
