Former US President Donald Trump announced, on Monday, the establishment of an official office in Palm Beach County in Florida to oversee his relations, according to the American "Fox News" network.
A statement issued by the "former president´s office" stated that it would manage Trump´s correspondence, public statements, public appearances, and other official activities and counter attempts to convict him in the Senate.
The office will also work to "support the interests of the United States ... and continue to advance the Trump administration´s agenda through advocacy, organization and public activities."
The announcement came after nine lawmakers submitted the indictment against Trump to the Senate, and Trump faces charges of "inciting violence" in the January 6 storming of the Capitol building.
Trump´s trial in the Senate will begin in the week of February 8.
Politco newspaper reported today that former President Donald Trump, who was twice impeached and acquitted in the Senate last year, and is awaiting a trial in the Senate next month, is diverting the support of Republican senators to stand against his conviction, and he sent messages to them to reassure them that he will not release A new party, and it will remain a Republican, and that if they vote to condemn it, they will face the wrath of voters who may vote who did not challenge them in the primaries from the Republican rules supporting Trump.
And Trump´s conviction in the Senate needs to be supported by all Democrats (50), in addition to 17 Republicans, which seems far-fetched now.
For his part, US President Joe Biden commented, in a short interview with CNN, yesterday, on the procedures for Trump´s trial in the Senate.
Biden stressed that "the trial must take its course," and stressed the necessity of the trial and its effects on the legislative process and the selection of future candidates for the US administration.
He indicated that the result of not proceeding with the trial would be "worse" than its conduct.
But the US President ruled out that Trump would get the sufficient votes needed to convict him, indicating that the result would have been different had the decision to impeach Trump had come six months before the end of his term.
He added that he does not believe 17 Republican senators will vote to convict Trump.
Biden ended the interview, saying that the Senate "has changed twice since I was in the administration, but it hasn´t changed significantly."
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives submitted yesterday a list of accusations that it approved against Trump, in connection with his accusation of "inciting" to storm the Capitol building on the sixth of January.
In a scene broadcast live, 9 lawmakers who will take over the prosecution duties at the trial took Trump´s impeachment indictment to the Senate, following the same path a mob of supporters of the former president took during their January storming of Congress.
On January 13, 2021, a majority of the members of the US House of Representatives voted in favor of passing legislation in favor of impeaching Trump and holding him accountable in the Senate on charges of inciting rebellion following the storming of Congress.
Democratic leaders say the goal of impeaching Trump, who they said represents a grave danger to the people and "democracy" of the United States, is to prevent him from holding any government posts in the future.
