French donors who have publicly promised hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuild the Notre Dame Cathedral have not paid anything to restore the famous French archaeologist, according to church officials and businessmen.
Instead, US citizens have essentially been paying for the salies of up to 150 workers hired by the cathedral since the April 15 fire, which destroyed its roof and caused the collapse of its famous roof.
US treaties came through the Friends of Notre Dame charity.
"The big donors have not paid or cents," said Andre Vino, a senior press officer in Notre Dame.
"They want to know exactly where they spend their money and agree to it before handing over the money," he said.
