The US Embassy announced today, Monday, that it has provided about 20,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, for the benefit of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip .
In a statement, the embassy indicated that 197730 vaccine doses provided by Kovacs, from the GAVI Vaccine Alliance and UNICEF, were delivered to Gaza, to support the Palestinians in their fight against the epidemic.
She pointed out that this brings the total of vaccines given through the Kovacs mechanism to the West Bank and Gaza to more than one million doses.
"This assistance complements the United States´ ongoing efforts to halt and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the West Bank and Gaza," she said.
