The US Treasury announced Thursday that it has imposed sanctions on the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization and its chief, in light of the tensions between the two countries.
The ministry also stated that Washington will renew, today, Thursday, the exemptions for working in the nuclear field in Iran for a further 60 days, allowing foreign companies to continue to work on Iran´s nuclear sites.
Tensions escalated in US-Iranian relations - already tense - after the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in a US raid near Baghdad International Airport in early January.
