The government of Saint Kitts and Nevis on Monday issued a formal statement that would recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign state on the borders of June 4, 1967. The Foreign Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Mark Brantley, handed the statement to Palestinian Foreign Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Riyad al-Malki, who arrived in the capital Peceter on Monday noon. This recognition was immediately followed by the signing by the two foreign ministers of a joint statement to establish diplomatic relations at the level of ambassadors between the two countries.
On the other hand, Maliki handed his counterpart a letter from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Timothy Harris, thanking him for his country´s decision to recognize the state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital and establish diplomatic relations between the two countries. Palestinian relations in various fields and to promote bilateral relations at all levels.
With this recognition, the number of countries that recognize the State of Palestine is 140, which is a remarkable diplomatic achievement added to the many diplomatic achievements.
