The Palestinian scientist Adnan Magali said that there is a highly effective treatment for the Corona epidemic, and we in Palestine must accelerate its production and use for prevention and treatment before the spread of the virus on a wider scale.
Magali added in a telephone interview from North Carolina, where he runs a number of major drug companies, that this drug has been in existence for more than 50 years, and has been used to treat plague in Africa and it was finally found that it has mechanisms that can kill the Corona virus.
He said: "Scientists and researchers in various countries of the world are searching for a quick and effective treatment for this dangerous epidemic. On our part, we have found that the treatment of malaria, which is named chloroquine or Hydroxy, treats corona very effectively as it kills the virus before it infects Lung damage. "
He added: "The drug kills the virus before it attacks the lung and empties the RNA, which causes severe damage to it, which may amount to death."
He added: "And the drug is also effective even after infection, as it works to kill the virus so that doctors take care of the damage caused by the injury such as infections of vision and others."
Magali said: "Everyone is conducting experiments, and there are confusion and uncertainty, because the virus surprised the world, but today many countries are manufacturing and using this drug." He said that America started using it according to the doctor’s instructions, "noting that there is a caution in using it along with other medicines used by some elderly people."
He noted that the US Food and Drug Administration recently approved this drug to treat corona virus.
He said that the countries of the world had stopped producing this drug for a long time after the eradication of the plague disease, but today it is being rapidly re-produced in order to confront Corona. He said that he recommends medical schools in Palestinian universities to work with pharmaceutical companies to reproduce this medicine and distribute it to citizens to kill the virus before it becomes worse. He was advised to expedite his production and to conduct experiments on those who had been quarantined.
He pointed out that the experiment that was conducted on the drug in America showed that the drug is capable of killing the virus, but if the immune system of the infected person is weak, the effect of treatment is limited because the great damage has occurred. But he added, "But I stress the necessity of using it for prevention in a wide manner, and for using it for treatment in various cases."
Magali said that Iraq began mass production of this drug and gave it to the citizens, and the results were excellent.
He said that we Palestinians must start producing quantities of this drug and make it available in the market before the outbreak of the epidemic, noting that Palestinian drug companies are able to produce it.
