The occupation authorities gave the Abu Assab family in the al-Qarmi neighbourhood of the Old City of Jerusalem until Tuesday to evacuate their house, in favor of extremist settlement associations.
The Abu Asab family appealed to the people of the town, the city and the Jerusalem institutions to stand up and solidarity with them against the evacuation of the settlers ´ house. She said she would organize a gathering and a sit-in at her threatened home.
The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Palestinian Territories (B´Tselem) reported that 2016 witnessed a record number of Palestinian homes demolished by Israel in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
In a report issued in 2017, the center added that the Israeli authorities demolished 88 residential houses and 48 buildings east of Jerusalem.
