The Norwegian Minister of Transport, Keitel Solvik-Olsen, officially resigned to allow his wife to succeed in her new work in the field of medicine.
The outgoing minister confirmed that his decision came after his wife had obtained work in a hospital in the United States of America, and in implementation of a prior agreement between them.
Olsen wrote on "Facebook ": "I was very happy with my work. Now it´s her turn (wife) to fulfill her dreams. "
Many social media leaders praised the step taken by Minister Olsen, considering it a victory for gender equality.
Norway ranked second out of 144 countries on gender equality in the Global report on the difference between men and women at the World Economic Forum 2017.
