Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today, Wednesday, that Russia is ready to “fully cooperate” with Germany regarding the Russian opposition Alexei Navalny, who Berlin announced that he had been poisoned with a Novichok nerve gas.
"We are ready and interested in fully cooperating and exchanging information on this issue with Germany," Peskov said, according to the official RIA Novosti agency.
But he indicated that Germany had not officially communicated its conclusions to Russia.
Peskov said: "The Russian Public Prosecution sent an official request to the German side in the hope of receiving an official response. Our doctors also offered to exchange official information, but unfortunately they did not receive an official response from their German colleagues."
For its part, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Germany of practicing "radio diplomacy" and of "replacing normal cooperation with a media campaign ... without concern for the existing legal cooperation mechanisms."
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Russian public television: The Russian ambassador to Germany, who was summoned Wednesday to the German Foreign Ministry, demanded evidence, but he did not get "any answer, any facts, any information."
