The collapse of a copper mine in Congo has risen to 43 workers

The death toll from the collapse of a copper mine in the southeast of the country has risen to 43, the authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) said Friday.

"The toll has risen to 43," said Richard Muij, governor of Lalapa province, where the incident took place.

The authorities announced on Thursday recovered 35 bodies in the wake of the accident at a mine belonging to the company "Camoto" copper mining.

The governor said miners were illegal.

The Republic of the Congo is rich in minerals such as copper and cobalt, and mine accidents are common.
