British police arrested a man after crossing the front gate and sneaking into the Royal Buckingham Palace in London in the early hours of dawn on Wednesday, local media reported, quoting police service in the Greater London area.
The police declined to comment on the name of the 22-year-old detainee, noting that he did not carry a weapon when he infiltrated inside the palace. The incident was not treated as a terrorist.
Police said the man was detained for violating and kidnapping, and was detained by a Royal Private Police force.
A spokesman for the palace confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II was in the palace at the time.
