Thailand aims to stop producing conventional fuel cars by 2035

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Supatanabung Bunimchao said that his country aims to stop the production of conventional fuel cars and that electric cars will be 100% of the country´s total production of cars by 2035, which is five years sooner than the previous target date.

And Bloomberg News quoted Supatanabung as telling reporters after a meeting of the National Committee for the New Generation of Cars in Thailand, saying that by 2030 electric cars will represent 50% of total car production in Thailand, while the previous target during the same period was only 30%.

Thailand is a major export hub for Japanese car manufacturers, Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi.

The auto industry contributes about 10% of Thailand´s GDP.
