China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec) has installed the world´s largest hydrogen refined residue reactor in Zhoushan City, east China´s Zhejiang Province, setting a record for lifting the heaviest piece of equipment in the country.
Sinopec, the country´s leading energy and chemical company, said on Wednesday in an online statement, that the installation was completed on June 10 in about 15 hours.
The company stated that the largest single-unit hydrogenation reactor in the world was designed by Sinopec Engineering Company weighing 3025 tons, equivalent to 17 of the blue whale, the largest animal on earth, with a height of 72 meters, which is equivalent to a 26-story building.
It is reported that the reactor with an outer diameter of 6.156 meters and a wall thickness of 320 millimeters is the main equipment for a major chemical refining project of Zhejiang Petroleum and Chemical Corporation.
According to the company, the main lifting task was carried out during the installation of the reactor by a 5200-ton non-slip hydraulic bridge lift system, along with a 2000-ton tracked crane to lift the reactor from its other side.
