The Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in the Gaza Strip described as "unprecedented" the extent of the destruction caused by the Israeli bombing, during the recent aggression on the Strip.
This came during an inspection tour organized by the ministry today, Sunday, to a number of tourist facilities in Gaza that were damaged as a result of the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. The tour included "Gaza International Hotel, Diouf Al-Rahman Office for Tourism and Travel in Al-Jawhara Tower and the Maldives Cafeteria on the shore of the Gaza Sea. The Ministry´s Assistant Undersecretary, Muhammad Khalah, confirmed that this tour comes to learn about the extent of the damage caused to tourist facilities during the recent aggression on the Gaza Strip, follow it up, raise the morale of its owners, and emphasize standing by the owners of all tourist facilities. And he indicated that the ministry has worked and based on a government decision to establish specialized committees that work to limit the damages related to all tourism facilities, which will start their work early next week. He said: "The occupation´s attack on the tourist sites is nothing but an empty target bank that has no basis or power." For his part, Director of Tourism in the Ministry, Zakaria Al-Hour, stressed that the Israeli attack and the massive destruction on tourism capabilities is unprecedented and has not happened before, and is an essential part of the Israeli crime against the Palestinian people. He explained that the ministry has strength and determination with the Palestinian people to rebuild what was destroyed by the occupation, and to provide assistance to all tourism and travel agents. For his part, the Chairman of the Association of Tourism and Travel Agents, Wasim Mushtaha, praised the efforts of the ministry and its committees working in the field and their standing with them and their endeavor to mitigate the harm to them. Mushtaha demanded that the leaders of the occupation should be brought to the International Criminal Court for their crimes against the Palestinian people. On the tenth of May, the Gaza Strip was subjected to a major aggression that lasted for 11 days, during which 255 Palestinians, most of them children, women and the elderly, were killed, and more than 1,600 others were injured, and 2,000 housing units and hundreds of government and media institutions and headquarters, roads and infrastructure were destroyed.
