"Peace Now " Israeli (leftist non-governmental) movement revealed that settlement construction in the settlements tripled in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the first quarter.
The movement said in a statement released Monday: during the second quarter of 2018, 794 settlement units were built, compared to 279 settlement units built in the first quarter of this year.
She noted that in the first half of 2018, a further 73 settlement units had been built in the settlements, compared with only 870 units in the first half of 2017.
"Peace Now " said: "Netanyahu´s government is still in the process of destroying opportunities for the progress of peace," adding that "continued settlement activity leads to the destruction of the two-state solution."
She explained that since the election of TRMP increased approvals for settlement plans and tenders for the construction of settlements, noting that we "have now begun to see the results on the ground."
On 23 December 2016, the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2334, which urged the end of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, demanded that Israel cease its settlement activities in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and that Israel not legitimize its settlements in the Palestinian territories. Occupied in 1967.
Israeli settlements are illegal from the standpoint of the international community and a major impediment to peace efforts because they are located on land that the Palestinians want within their next state.
On December 23, 2016, the UN Security Council adopted a draft resolution to halt and condemn settlement, stressing that the settlements are illegal, threatening the two-state solution and the peace process.
