Netflix will showcase the first novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Colombian writer Gabrielle Garcia Marquez for the first time in a Spanish-language series, Netflix said.
Marquez´s sons will be producers of the series, which will be filmed in Colombia, the hometown of the late writer.
They said in a statement that the Nobel Prize-winning novelist, who died in 2014, opposed for years to sell the rights of the novel.
They added that the time would not be better than now to attract an exceptional global view provided by Netflix for the series.
The novel "A Hundred Years of Solitude" was published in 1967.
